| Rhode Island Child Abuse Prevention Network |
The Rhode Island Child Abuse Prevention Network directs child abuse and neglect prevention activities statewide. It is a formal collaboration between government, public, private and non-profit groups. Using combined strengths and resources, the Rhode Island Child Abuse Prevention Network is working to eliminate child abuse and neglect in our state.
Every April, Child Abuse Awareness Month is celebrated nationally. On April 6th, the RI General Assembly proclaimed April 2010 Child Abuse Awareness Month in Rhode Island, thanks to our long time supporter - Representative Joanne Gianinni.
This year's Child Abuse Awareness Month theme is "Parenting is Hard Work" because we recognize that parents have a difficult job in raising kids and need support, guidance and community connections to make their jobs easier.
This year's campaign has included: ~ RI General Assembly Proclamation Event for Child Abuse Awareness Month ~ 8 special issues of our Parenting Rules! e-newsletter ~ More than a dozen trainings with Child Care Centers ~ 2 free parent workshop on Internet Safety ~ Radio interviews on AM 790, WPRO NewsTalk 630, and Lite 105 FM ~ Appearance on Women in Business - a public access cable program ~ Attendance at 11 child safety and health fairs across the state
Groups or individuals interested in joining should contact Prevent Child Abuse Rhode Island at 401.728-7920 for more information.
